Relieving Earth from the power of mighty kid buu, bringing peace to Earth, Goku and Vegeta were able to stop Majin Buu through spirit bomb technique by collecting energy throughout the universe. Goku who is working as a farmer as chichi directed her, received 100 million Zeni award from Mr Satan for saving the Earth.

Next Sorbet and his team were finding a way to revive Frieza by using dragon balls. After continuous training of four months to take revenge from Goku, Frieza arrived at the earth with 1000 warriors. Goku and Vegeta were getting trained by Whis to get stronger in their base when they were interrupted by Bulma, informing them about the arrival of Frieza on earth. Goku and Vegeta arrived on earth using instant transmission. Seeing Goku in super saiyan blue form, Frieza reveals her new form
called as Golden Frieza. The fight continues and Frieza was able to destroy the earth with Vegeta fighting against him. But Whis who can reverse the time 3 minutes sends Goku back in past and thus stops and eliminates Frieza. Gohan starts training with Piccolo to protect his loved ones.

Goku and Vegeta continue their training with Whis where suddenly Champa, a twin brother of Beerus, God of the destruction of universe 6 appears to meet Beerus. With the elegance of earth, Chama and Beerus announced a battle of Tournament of Destroyers, where if Champa wins he will have an earth of universe 7 from where Goku and Vegeta belongs and if Beerus wins he will get all the super dragon balls which Champa has been collecting it secretly. Team universe 7 has Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Majin Buu and strange Monaka. On the other side of universe 6 has Hit, Frost, Cabba, Botamo and Auta Magetta. With the elegant match between universe 6 and universe 7, with a win of universe 7, Beerus uses the super dragon balls to resurrect universe 7 earth and its habitats. But at the end of the tournament, there appears Zen-oh and announces there will be a match among all the universes.
Sometimes later, future Trunks appears from his unpleasant timeline where a mysterious threat known as Goku Black has eliminated all the earthling including Bulma from future. But this is not all, Black Goku followed Future Trunks in present timeline and finds out his power level by fighting Goku. As fighting continues, the distortion occurred in the black hole and pulls Black Goku in future Trunk's timeline. Beerus and Whis observed that the character from future was wearing "Time Ring" which belongs to Supreme Kais. To acknowledge the story behind this, Goku along with Beerus and Whis travel to universe 10 where Goku had a fight with Gowasu apprentice Zamasu whose ki was same as Black Goku. Zamasu who was curious to know that the mortals have gained power level to challenge the Gods, reveals his hatred for them.

In the meantime, Zeh-oh calls for Goku where he meets Great priest. Zen-oh wants Goku to become his friend and play with him. Goku with this ongoing situation promises Zen-oh that will bring a good friend to play with. Zen-oh gave him a button so that whenever Goku need him just has to press that button. Goku, Vegeta and Future Trunks went to future and finds that Zamasu is with Black Goku which brings the whole environment into shock. They get defeated and returns to their timeline. Zamasu confronts Zuno about super dragon balls and Goku. Beerus, Whis, Supreme Kai and Goku went to universe ten to meet Zamasu but did not find him. All four observe the behaviour of Zamasu at a far distance from Gowasu place. Zamasu kills Gowasu in order to obtain the time ring but Whis uses his temporal technique and reverses the time. They went back and Beerus vanishes Zamasu from the extinction. To check whether the future is safe or not, Goku, Vegeta and future Trunks again travel to Trunks timeline. Everything remains unchanged and there Black Goku explains that he is the original Zamasu who kills Gowasu, took his time ring and met Goku and uses the super dragon balls to excgange the bodies with Goku and then kills him and all this happened when future Trunks went back in the timeline. They form a new team and started their zero mortals plan.

Then there comes a situation when Trunks attains a powerful transformation beating Zamasu and Gowasu helping Vegeta and Goku to return back in time. Goku learns the Evil Containment Wave technique and Vegeta trains himself in hyperbolic chamber. They both return in future with Bulma. Future Trunks was giving them one to one fight but now its time for Goku and Vegeta to take over. Gowasu and Supreme kai arrived to feel Zamasu guilty of what he has done to earth. But anyways nothing was going to happen. Zamasu was contained by the evil containment wave but could not hold him for long. Seeing Zamasu's ki fading, Black and Zamasu fused together and beomes Fused Zamasu. Then Goku and Vegeta too decides to join their body and becomes Super Vegito Blue. But it did not last for long due to time limit.

Future trunks step in and with the help of energy of Goku, Vegeta and all the living beings on the planet, able to slice Fused Zamasu from the middle due to the difference in his spiritual and physical state. Nothing left to do for Fused Zamasu, Goku called future Zen-oh and he eliminates the entire universe from existence. Goku and future trunks went back in time to grab future Zen-oh and tool him to meet main timeline Zen-oh and they became playmates. Future Mai and Trunks decides to stay in the alternate timeline which Whis created after warning future Beerus about Zamasu.
After sometime, the two Zen-oh decides to organise a tournament including the twelve universe in the place of World of Void. In this match the universe which gets defeated will be eliminated then and there by Zen-oh. The match will begin 40 hours earth time. But before that Zen-oh wanted to see a exhibition match before the toumament starts. The match set up between universe 7 and universe 9. Goku, Gohan and Buu challenged Kicker, Lavender and Bergamo, where Goku showed the super saiyan blue form and defeat them. Later, a fighter named Toppo wishes to fight Goku considering Goku as evil. Goku went on to beat him too by final kamehameha. Toppo tells he is not the one strong in his universe but Jiren who is for sure going to put Goku down.
Finally Goku recruits Picollo, Gohan, krillin, Android 17 & 18, Master Roshi and Buu but at the last moment Buu slept and Frieza was chosen in place of his replacement.
